Ministry in Focus

From time to time I will highlight a ministry that I think is advancing the Gospel and Free Grace.  Before I get started I want to recognize Barb McKenna who is editing my posts so that I don't have so many grammar and spelling errors.

“Grace Evangelical Society "promotes the clear proclamation of God's free salvation through faith alone in Christ alone, which is properly correlated with, and yet distinguished, from issues related to discipleship (GES website).  They have a store with some great books as well as tracts and other Free Grace material.  They have a yearly conference and mp3's and DVD's are available.  They have both a written blog and an auto blog.  You can sign up for their bimonthly newsletter which is really top notch, with color photos, and is free.  These newsletters are searchable on the site.   I can spend hours on GES studying the word with their various helps.  The only negative I would say is their written blog hasn't been updated for some time.  Other than that it’s a great site for bible study.  The web address is

Street Evangelism

This is another post that will be on going.  That is to say when ever i go out on the streets to witness i will wright about it under the heading of Street Evangelism.

Yesterday i went out to the big city of Rutland, actually its kinda small but its big for a city in Vermont.  I was not out for very long.  It was mid morning and it was getting hot.  I had decided to give out Gospels of John.  I used my standard approach of "hi may I give you a Gospel of John".  I like doing it this way I used to give out Million dollar bill tracts.  However after a while i didn't like it because people would take them , not knowing what they were, and i felt as if i was tricking them, which I was.  The way I do it now, being up front, is much more honest.  People now exactly what I'm giving them.  Please understand I'm not saying that all tracts are bad.  I have tracts when i set up my booth at different venues.  The approach i use with them is I ask the question can i give you something to think about? I tell them its a gospel tract if they want it.  A lot of times i just say, when a person asks what it is, "it teaches how you can have eternal life in Christ Jesus."  In any event, I had my Gospels of John and it was going well.  I stand at a busy intersection and wait for people to pass by,  Its a very good location.  I meet a lot of interesting people and this day was going to be good.  I met two woman one id say in her late 20's and her companion I would say was in her mid 70's.  After giving the books I shared the Gospel with them.  The older woman was interested in receiving Christ which she did, praise God!  After they left a man about 30 came along.  He turned out to be a fellow Christian I told him about the woman who received Christ and i asked him to pray so we did right there on the sidewalk.  i don't know if we drew attention to ourselves but it was a good time of fellowship.  It was a awesome day.

Spring Fling

The Spring Fling is a yearly event in Fair Haven, VT.  Its held on the Saturday of memorial day weekend.  The event host a variety of vendors, from artisans to food to flea market dealers.  It pulls in a lot of people from around the area which makes it a perfect place to have a Evangelism booth.

I was joined this year with the ladies group of Fellowship Bible Church.  They passed out free water with Church info on the bottle.

My booth encompass a 10x10 tent with a six foot table, tracts and gospels of John.  It was a nice day with plenty of sunshine.  I met a lot of people gave away the literature i had and led two children to the Lord.  The ladies free water was a great draw for people to stop at the booth.  Overall I think it was a great success

Do What I Say

You ever notice that we Christians are an odd bunch?  Let me give you an example.

We cannot live the Christian life apart from Gods ever present guiding hand.  Ive never met a Christian who believed otherwise.  Even when we pray God Is there teaching us assuring us.  We pray to the Father, in the power of the Holy Spirit,in the name of Jesus, oh yes God is there in prayer.  Our walk is steeped in submission to Gods will found in the scriptures.  Along about now you may be asking yourself this isn't odd and your right.  However what is odd is when we expect non-believers to act like Christians when they don't have God to guide them as  we do. I think our time is better spent sharing the gospel than trying to reform a unbeliever.  I'm not saying you cant be politically active but ones first duty is to make disciples not clean up the devils world.

Is The Gospel Free?

What happened to the gospel being free?  Now a days we add things to it
,such as "you must turn from sin before you can believe".  Or how about back filling the gospel with if you don't remain committed you  were not really saved to begin with even worse that you had lost your salvation.

I've herd knowledgeable Evangelist say you have to do two things to be saved repent, turn from sins, then believe.  What happened to Faith alone in Christ alone?  The Gospel of John is the book on Evangelism (John 20: 30-31)  and never says you have to  repent let alone turn from your sins.

I know people will take offense at this and thats okay i plan to continue or update this post from time to time.  In the mean time take a hard look at the Gospel of John again.  Look again at (John 3: 16, 36, 6: 47, 9: 35-38) just to name a few.  well thats all for now, like i said i will revisit this issue from time to time.

ps-sorry for the grammar im not so good
