Ministry in Focus

I would like to tell you about a great ministry that I discovered at the beginning of summer.  It’s called “Living Water".  What they do is simple but inspiring.  They print and give away Gospels of John.  That’s right, for free.  This is what I call a grace ministry.   They don’t ask for funds. They rely on God to supply their needs.  If for some reason the money isn’t there they wait till it is there to send out an order.  I recommend that you send away for a single copy of the Gospel of John to check out the translation, etc..  Then if you’re a typical believer you can start out with a pack of ten.  Give them to your friends and family.  You’ll be surprised how easy it is to spread God’s word.  Use this book to lead someone to the Lord, using John 3:16.  You can’t go wrong.  Now, if you have a regular Evangelism ministry, as the Lord has called me to, you can get a box of 100. I’m on my second box.  Please check out this ministry, and you want be sorry.  Of course, just because they don’t ask for money doesn’t mean they don’t need   it.  Maybe if you are looking for a ministry to give to I would recommend this to you.  Please visit them at    Livingwater.org

On the Streets.

The other day I hit the streets, passing out Gospels of John.  It has been a while and I was praying a lot so that I could overcome the fear one has in meeting strangers with  the message of Christ.  It turned out to be a good day.  I met a man who was out of work and trying to find a job, and I told him I would pray for him.  I was surprised at the number of people who wouldn't say anything to me. I usually get a “no thank you” but I had people just ignore me or just shake their heads.  It’s ok, I wasn't offended, it was just weird.  Speaking of weird, I’m going to the Halloween parade to pass more gospels out next week.  Please pray for me.  God bless.

I’m Back

I’ve been ill for several months and have not been able to blog.  I’m better and look forward to getting back on the streets again.  I’m encouraged by the traffic I’ve had on this blog and my other blog, “Story by C. S. Chambers”.  So I’m back, God bless.

At The Car Show

We set up our evangelism booth at the local car show. Though it called for rain it turned out to be a nice sunny day. We gave out free water again which went well. The gospels of John went really well also. It was good to be meeting people and making small talk from time to time.

I met a woman of about 35 and she didn't have any idea who Jesus was, so I gave her the gospel and she was willing to take a Gospel with my card in it. You may be wondering why I don’t use names of people. I know who they are, but I feel it would be inappropriate to use their names without their knowledge. This lady seemed very curious and interested in spiritual things.

A young man of 24, who use to come to my house and hang out with my kids when he was a teen, stopped by. We made some small talk and he said he was involved to some degree with the local Kingdom Hall or Jehovah’s Witnesses. I told him I was a born again Christian and I shared Christ with him. He also took a gospel.

Please pray for these folks and others we came in contact with.

Street Evangelism: The Heathen

I’ve been going out on the streets for a number of years and have met all kinds of people . I’ve met religious people , Catholics, Baptists, Pentecostals, Atheists, Cult members, nice people, rude people. Most people seem to believe if their good outweighs their bad they make it to heaven. Some believe the gospel that it is simply faith and faith alone in Christ Jesus that will give them eternal life, and it’s always good to meet a fellow Christian.

However, the other day I met a Heathen, totally new, first time ever for me. He came walking up to the intersection where I stood giving out the Gospel of John. I asked him, “Would you like a Gospel of John?”
“No, I believe in the ancient Gods who where there way before your man in the desert came along.” He pushed the button on the light pole to cross traffic I didn’t have much time.
“Are you a Pagan ?” I asked.”
“No, actually I’m a heathen. “ Oden is my God.”
He continued with a short history of the Christians not wanting to trade with us , the Heathen. The crossing light turned color and he was gone , and I never got a chance for rebuttal. Of course, I went over all of the things I could have said, like “Were are you going when you die?” or “Christianity was from the beginning, haven't you read Genesis?” That sort of thing. I need to do some research into the heathen religion so I have a little bit of reference. Well, until next time, God bless.

Ministry in Focus

From time to time I will highlight a ministry that I think is advancing the Gospel and Free Grace.  Before I get started I want to recognize Barb McKenna who is editing my posts so that I don't have so many grammar and spelling errors.

“Grace Evangelical Society "promotes the clear proclamation of God's free salvation through faith alone in Christ alone, which is properly correlated with, and yet distinguished, from issues related to discipleship (GES website).  They have a store with some great books as well as tracts and other Free Grace material.  They have a yearly conference and mp3's and DVD's are available.  They have both a written blog and an auto blog.  You can sign up for their bimonthly newsletter which is really top notch, with color photos, and is free.  These newsletters are searchable on the site.   I can spend hours on GES studying the word with their various helps.  The only negative I would say is their written blog hasn't been updated for some time.  Other than that it’s a great site for bible study.  The web address is

Street Evangelism

This is another post that will be on going.  That is to say when ever i go out on the streets to witness i will wright about it under the heading of Street Evangelism.

Yesterday i went out to the big city of Rutland, actually its kinda small but its big for a city in Vermont.  I was not out for very long.  It was mid morning and it was getting hot.  I had decided to give out Gospels of John.  I used my standard approach of "hi may I give you a Gospel of John".  I like doing it this way I used to give out Million dollar bill tracts.  However after a while i didn't like it because people would take them , not knowing what they were, and i felt as if i was tricking them, which I was.  The way I do it now, being up front, is much more honest.  People now exactly what I'm giving them.  Please understand I'm not saying that all tracts are bad.  I have tracts when i set up my booth at different venues.  The approach i use with them is I ask the question can i give you something to think about? I tell them its a gospel tract if they want it.  A lot of times i just say, when a person asks what it is, "it teaches how you can have eternal life in Christ Jesus."  In any event, I had my Gospels of John and it was going well.  I stand at a busy intersection and wait for people to pass by,  Its a very good location.  I meet a lot of interesting people and this day was going to be good.  I met two woman one id say in her late 20's and her companion I would say was in her mid 70's.  After giving the books I shared the Gospel with them.  The older woman was interested in receiving Christ which she did, praise God!  After they left a man about 30 came along.  He turned out to be a fellow Christian I told him about the woman who received Christ and i asked him to pray so we did right there on the sidewalk.  i don't know if we drew attention to ourselves but it was a good time of fellowship.  It was a awesome day.
